Reparations Now!

This summer, 2023, is an opportune time to reflect on the Black experience, reparations, and the significance of Juneteenth. 

 

The first point of note is the establishment of a task force in California, which is set to submit a proposal for reparations to the government on July 1st. This initiative signifies a tangible step towards addressing historical injustices and seeking redress for marginalized communities.

Additionally, the significance of Juneteenth weekend is crucial to understanding the relevance of reparations. 19th, 1865, the chains that bound black bodies to chattel slavery were shattered, two agonizing years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth carries the weight of resilience and the unwavering spirit in the face of oppression and brutality.

Reparations, as a concept, remains highly controversial, making it an intriguing and evocative topic of discussion.
